Terms of use
The terms for using PIC during its beta.
1. The beta
PIC is beta software. Features may change, break or be removed, and the service may be unavailable at times. We may end the beta or your access to it.
2. Not a certified navigation source
PIC is an aid to situational awareness and planning. It is not certified by the FAA or any other authority, and it is not approved as a primary means of navigation. Its attitude comes from GPS, or from a portable receiver's AHRS, and neither is a certified attitude source.
PIC does not replace an official weather briefing, NOTAMs, current charts and publications, your aircraft's instruments or ATC instructions. Altitudes, alternates, routes, fuel figures and alerts suggested by PIC must be checked against official sources. Under 14 CFR 91.3 the pilot in command is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of the aircraft.
3. Data
PIC's aeronautical, weather and imagery data come from government and public sources. They can contain errors, can be late, and can be incomplete. Weather from ADS-B and the internet can be delayed or missing. Keep your data current and check the effective dates.
4. Your account
You need a 480data account to download data. Keep your sign-in secure; you're responsible for what's done with your account. When you share an aircraft, the people you share it with can see, and if you allow it change, that aircraft's details.
5. Acceptable use
Don't copy, resell or redistribute PIC's data packs, don't try to get around sign-in or download limits, and don't interfere with the service.
6. No warranty
To the extent the law allows, PIC is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of data.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, 480data is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on PIC for navigation, weather or flight decisions.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with its date; continuing to use PIC after that means you accept it.
